Infant & Toddler Classes in the McAllen Area

Here is a quick list of infant and toddler classes- some that I attend with my daughter and others that I have heard about around the McAllen/Edinburg/Mission area (and a few in Brownsville). I'm sure there are many more out there, so I'll post more as I find them. Please feel free to comment and share classes that you know about! Thanks!

1. Kindermusik

I have been taking my daughter to Ms. Marisa's Kindermusik class (McAllen) since she was about 10 months old. It took her a while to get into the routine, but I can honestly say that she has grown to love the routine and listening and making music. The classroom is small, but it's a great size for both kiddos and parents to interact with each other.

For infants, I think that it really takes some time before they get into the routine and for parents to see how the class is benefiting their child. In my opinion, it is worth the commitment. My daughter loves the class and teacher, and has learned so much from the class- movements, cleaning up, words, "singing," dancing, playing the drums and a variety of musical shakers, direction, and so much more.

Classes range from 0-7 yrs. and you can try a class for free. The tuition includes a bag of supplies that go along with the semester theme: a musical shaker, a book, a CD, and little picture cards that follow the story.

2. The Little Gym

My daughter and I have been attending classes here since she was about 10 months old. As an infant, it took her a much longer time to get the hang of it compared to Kindermusik. but now that she is a toddler, she loves running around and all the physical activity she gets here. They do lots of activities that range from singing, playing with musical shakers, walking/running, to bubbles, balls, jumping on the air track, flipping, and a variety of activities on the different equipment they have set up.

If you want your kids to burn some energy and have some loud fun, this is a great option! You can also try the first class for free. Classes range from 4 months-12 yrs.

3. Aqua-Tots Swim Schools

I have heard great things about Aqua-Tots and I definitely want to try it in the near future, but two classes for my little are enough for now!

There are 2 locations in McAllen and a new one that just opened up in Brownsville. Classes range from 6 months and up.

5. Yoga

Breathe Studio- Yoga & Pilates (Edinburg)
When I first found this studio, the schedule just didn't work for my baby's naps, but now that she is older and her nap schedule has changed, I need to go ASAP! This is a small studio, but the owner was really sweet and very flexible- she welcomes babies to her other yoga classes as well! I'm pretty sure you can try the first class for free as well. Baby Yoga classes are at 10:30 am on Monday and Wednesday. They also offer prenatal yoga as well!

  1. Thank you! This is very useful for my two year old, a lot easier than having to look through every website only to find out the age range is 3+ :)
